A potential manufacturing defect in nearly 9000 Hyundai ix35 SUVs could cause brake fluid to leak into electronic components and start an engine fire, according to the recall notice.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Hyundai<\/strong>\u00a0has recalled\u00a08794<\/strong>\u00a0examples of its\u00a02012-2013 Hyundai ix35<\/strong> SUV due to a potential manufacturing fault<\/strong> that could lead to a vehicle fire.<\/p>\n The recall notice states brake fluid could leak into the Antilock Braking System (ABS) control module, wherein an electrical short circuit could occur, potentially resulting in an engine compartment fire.<\/p>\n The affected vehicles are stamped\u00a02012<\/strong> to\u00a02013<\/strong> models, but may have been sold at a later date, and affect all ix35 variants and powertrains.<\/p>\n The recall notice<\/a> says: “Due to a manufacturing defect, brake fluid may leak into the Antilock Braking System (ABS) control module.” <\/p>\n “This could cause an electrical short circuit leading to a vehicle engine compartment fire while parked or driving.”<\/p>\n
