The 2026 Isuzu MU-X gains a new engine that gives the base model greater towing capacity, alongside range-wide price rises of up to $2000 – months after the last increases.

  • 2026 Isuzu MU-X pricing and specifications
  • New 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine replaces 1.9-litre
  • Outputs of 120kW/400Nm, matched to eight-speed automatic
  • Priced from $49,900 before on-road costs

The 2026 Isuzu MU-X off-road SUV range has been updated with a new 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine option, rolling into dealerships around the country now.

Styling and equipment remain mostly unchanged for the latest MU-X, aside from the new choice in powertrains.

The 2.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine makes 120kW and 400Nm, and runs through a new eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

This engine replaces the 1.9-litre turbo-diesel (110kW/350Nm) and six-speed auto, and boosts its towing capacity to 3500kg across the range, matching 3.0-litre variants which remain available.

This new engine – which has been on sale in Thailand for around 12 months – is fitted with engine stop-start technology, which looks to reduce consumption by turning the engine off when the vehicle is stopped, and would otherwise be idling.

The 3.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine – which remains available in the Isuzu MU-X and D-Max line-up – will now also be equipped with engine stop-start technology.

Opting for the 3.0-litre engine – which retains a six-speed automatic transmission, and outputs of 140kW/450Nm – brings a $2000 price premium.

Discontinued for the revised line-up – classified as ‘Model Year 2025.5’ vehicles – are two-wheel-drive 3.0-litre variants, but the smaller engine is now offered in the high-grade LS-T for the first time, rather than exclusive to the cheaper LS-M and LS-U.
