New top and tail models for the Mercedes-AMG GT coupe range have arrived in Australia, including the first AMG GT four-cylinder model.
Mercedes-Benz has announced an expanded range for its AMG GT flagship coupe.
Both the four-cylinder AMG GT 43 and high-output V8 GT 63 Pro join the existing V8 AMG GT already available in Australia since mid-2024.
The range-opening GT 43 is powered by a version of the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine found in the C63 and A45.
In the AMG GT 43 it produces 310kW and 500Nm, allowing the coupe to sprint from 0-100km/g in a claimed 4.6 seconds. Despite the sub-5.0 second figure, it is the slowest model to wear the GT badge over two generations.

The AMG GT 43 turbocharger is assisted by a F1-derived electric motor mounted to the turbocharger shaft, allowing the turbo to build boost before exhaust gases reach the turbine wheel, reducing response times.
A 48-volt mild-hybrid system is also incorporated, contributing up to 10kW of power under acceleration and allowing the engine to shut down when coasting.
Unlike the GT 63 V8 model, the 43 eschews all-wheel drive and is only available with rear-wheel drive, with power sent via AMG’s multi-clutch eight-speed automatic transmission.
Rather than trying to pass the four-cylinder version off as a regular AMG GT, the entry-level model differs from V8 versions with narrower front and rear guards, a unique front bumper and twin exhaust tips at the rear in place of the quad tips used on GT 63 models.

Australian-bound GT 43 coupes will come with the AMG Dynamic Plus package as standard, with a real locking differential and dynamic engine mounts as standard, plus 10mm lower suspension than standard versions overseas, and a front carbon-fibre aero undercover.
AMG Ride control adaptive suspension, Burmester premium audio, Digital Light matrix LED headlights, and the Mercedes-Benz Driving Assistance Package Plus are also standard.
Pricing for the AMG GT 43 starts from $249,900, undercutting the GT 63 by around $120,500. The only optional equipment will be a Prime Package that adds dash-cam functionality and multicontour front seats with heating and cooling for $3900.
At the other end of the spectrum, the AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ takes the regular AMG GT 63’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 and ramps up outputs to 450kW and 850Nm, a boost of 20kW and 50Nm compared to the regular model.

Despite the higher outputs, 0-100km/h acceleration remains at the same 3.2 seconds at the GT 63, but 0-200km/h takes 10.9 seconds, making it 0.5 sec faster.
Like the GT 43, the GT 63 Pro uses an eight-speed multi-clutch automatic transmission, but switches to fully variable 4Matic+ all-wheel drive to help put power to the road.
Some of the GT 63 Pro’s race-inspired upgrades include a reworked high-performance cooling system, additional radiators in the wheel arches, and active cooling of the differentials and transfer case.
The GT 63 Pro also features four-wheel steering, active ride control with active roll stabilisation, and active aerodynamics.

Styling changes include a new front bumper with carbon-fibre air deflectors, and a fixed rear wing, plus underbody covers that reduce front axle lift by a claimed 30kg and increase downforce at the rear by 15kg.
Carbon ceramic brakes with 420mm front rotors and six-piston front calipers are also standard as part of the Pro upgrade, usually a $13,200 option on the regular GT 63. The GT 63 Pro rides on 21-inch alloy wheels with a cross-spoke design finished in matte grey.
Other features found in the GT 63 Pro include AMG performance seats, an AMG Performance steering wheel, nappa leather and microfiber upholstery, front seat heating and ventilation, Burmester audio and Digital Light matrix LED headlights.
Pricing for the AMG GT 63 Pro starts from $418,900 before on-road costs, a $48,500 step up over the non-Pro GT 63.
Additional extras include the AMG Night Package blackout styling for $1900, exterior carbon-fibre package for $5200, and upgraded Burmester high-end 3D surround sound for $8900.
