A Ferrari supercar used to be offered with a defined, but limited colour palette. Not so the new F80…
You can have any colour you like as long as it is red. And not just red, Ferrari’s iconic Rosso Corsa red.
This was the rule when the first Ferrari supercar, the 288 GTO hit the market in 1984, with all 272 examples leaving Maranello in the iconic shade.
The Ferrari F40 followed the same rule, but the F50 expanded the client choice to five; Rosso Corsa, Rosso Barchetta (deeper and darker red), Giallo Modena (yellow), Nero (black) and Argento Nurburgring (silver).
Things changed when the 2002 Ferrari Enzo was released. Ferrari initially announced the car would be offered only in red, yellow or black, but it was ultimately made available with an open book to all Ferrari colours. The 2013 LaFerrari took this a step further and allowed customers to have any colour they wanted, from Ferraris past and present.
The new Ferrari F80 supercar is again, relatively unlimited in its colour choice with near any shade possible, providing Ferrari approve and your bank account accepting.
Inspiration has to start somewhere though, and as an initial selection palette, Ferrari has revealed no fewer than 35 different colours, in five different groupings, on its online configurator.
