MG broke through into the top ten in February 2021 and – proving it was not a fluke – finished the year in ninth, rose to seventh in 2022 and repeated it with seventh in 2023, posting 58,346 sales, an increase of 17.7 per cent. It’ll finish 2024 in the top ten yet again.
This will give BYD a much wider model line-up for the new year, but it still won’t be as broad a range as Great Wall Motors (GWM), which includes five SUVs, two utes, and an electric vehicle in its range, and stands between BYD and MG as the second-best selling Chinese brand in Australia at tenth overall.
