Kia EV5 Air Standard Range vehicles built in 2025 are being offered for $49,990 drive-away, over $10,000 less than the cheapest Tesla Model Y and nearly $7000 less than Kia’s previous offer.

Kia’s electric SUV rival to the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7 has slipped under $50,000 in Australia.

Until February 28, 2026, unless extended, the entry-level Kia EV5 Air Standard Range is being offered for $49,990 drive-away – or $50,990 in Western Australia – to clear 2025-built stock.

The EV5 Air Standard Range usually retails for $56,770 before on-road costs, with the brand also offering drive-away pricing at the same cost as its recommended retail price (RRP) since its 2024 launch.

Under the deal, the Air Standard Range is more than $10,000 cheaper than the final cost of a Tesla Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive, which retails for $58,900 before on-road costs, equating to drive-away pricing above $60,000.

It also undercuts the BYD Sealion 7 Premium, which officially retails for $54,900 before on-road costs but is currently being offered with complimentary on-road costs until March 31, 2026.

A drive-away deal is also available for the EV5 Air Long Range at $59,990, less than its $61,170 RRP and equivalent to the related 2026 Hyundai Elexio Elite’s $59,990 introductory drive-away offer, with the same electric motor and battery size.

Additionally, the all-wheel-drive EV5 Earth is being offered for $64,990 drive-away – from a $64,770 RRP – and the GT-Line for $75,990 ($71,770 RRP), excluding WA, where they are between $1000 and $1775 dearer.

The EV5 Air Standard Range features a 64.2kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery delivering a WLTP-rated 400-kilometre driving range, 66km less than the Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive and 82km less than the Sealion 7 Premium.

EV5 Air Long Range, Earth and GT-Line grades upgrade to an 88.1kWh LFP battery, rated with a 555km range for the Air Long Range FWD, 500km for the Earth AWD, and 470km for the GT-Line AWD.

In 2025, 4787 examples of the Kia EV5 were reported as sold in Australia, below the Tesla Model Y (22,239), BYD Sealion 7 (13,410) and Tesla Model 3 (6617), but ahead of the Geely EX5 (3944), BYD Atto 3 (3861) and BYD Seal (3784).
