LDV has become the sixth car-maker in Australia to offer a seven-year permanent new-car warranty, although the extended coverage is currently exclusive to buyers of the new Mifa people mover.

Chinese car-maker LDV has extended its new-car warranty coverage to seven years in Australia – almost a decade after Kia pioneered the concept in 2014.
LDV is the sixth car-maker – and the third Chinese brand – to introduce a permanent seven-year new-car warranty in Australia, following Kia (October 2014), MG (November 2017), SsangYong (September 2018), GWM Haval (October 2018) and Skoda (September 2022).
While LDV has capped its warranty at 200,000 kilometres, all other car makers with seven-year warranties in Australia offer unlimited-kilometre coverage.
But for now, the expanded warranty is only available with the new-generation Mifa people mover, a replacement for the G10 Wagon.
In Australia, the rest of the LDV line-up is covered by a five-year/130,000-kilometre warranty.
It is possible the expanded warranty coverage may be applied to upcoming new-generation or updated models, however LDV’s Australian distributor is yet to detail plans to do so.
Mitsubishi continues to provide the longest new-car warranty in Australia, offering a five-year/100,000km standard warranty, plus an additional five years/100,000km (up to 10 years/200,000km in total) if vehicles are only serviced within the brand’s official dealer network.
Honda and Hyundai have both previously offered temporary seven-year warranties in Australia, although both brands have since reverted to permanent five-year coverage.
Earlier this month, BMW expanded its Australian warranty from three to five years, becoming the last Top 20 brand to do so locally.
