As a 10th anniversary present to itself, Geely-owned Lynk & Co unveiled a stunning GT car with performance credentials to shake established rivals.

Chinese brand Lynk & Co has celebrated its 10th anniversary by revealing a stunning high-performance coupe at the Beijing motor show.

The official name for the concept is, awkwardly, ‘Time to Shine’ but it’ll be referred to herein as the Lynk & Co GT concept.

Lynk & Co refers to the coupe as “both a tribute and a statement of intent” for the brand, pointing to a possible production future.

The styling carries elements from 12-cylinder Ferraris, with hints of 599 in the long bonnet, a window line from the 812 Superfast, and a visor-like front end that gives a nod to the current 12Cilindri.

Powertrain specifics for the electric GT Concept were not released, but Lynk & Co claims the GT Concept can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 2.0 seconds, making it quicker than any production model so far.

The 2+2 coupe eschews the all-wheel drive layout usually associated with ultra-quick electrified vehicles, and instead sticks with a rear-wheel drive chassis.

Official information about the concept was packed with buzzwords, like ‘track-inspired chassis DNA’ and ‘AI-powered digital chassis’, with no real explanation of how these have been implemented in the GT Concept.

The interior features a driver-centric cabin, and unlike other performance debuts at Beijing, no jumbo-sized centre screen.

Instead, two small instrument displays ahead of the driver relay key data, while a trio of smaller screens provide secondary info on the dashboard.

The majority of physical controls are grouped on the steering wheel as buttons, rocker switches, and dials, designed to promote intuitive operation without looking away from the road.

A prominent pair of wheel-mounted gearshift paddles is also included.

A performance driving mode, activated by pressing the yellow ‘+’ button on the console, lowers the GT Concept by 15mm, deploys active aero extensions at the front and rear of the car, adding 100mm of overall length, and raises the concealed rear wing.

Lynk & Co’s participation in touring car racing is touted as the inspiration for the GT Concept’s performance credentials.

The Lynk & Co brand is co-owned by Geely and Zeekr, which is itself wholly Geely-owned, and previously also had involvement from Volvo. The brand has launched in China and Europe, but has yet to be locked in for an Australian release.

Instead, Lynk & Co cars could be sold here under the already-established Zeekr brand.
